Last spring while perusing seed catalogs and my local garden centers, I came across seed tape strips. These thin strips of paper are dotted with perfectly spaced seeds, reducing the need to thin seedlings. Intrigued, I decided to make my own for a fraction of the cost.
First, I have to confess. I didn't invent this craft. I actually googled it a few months ago and came across a dozen really wonderful tutorials. Like any good "recipe," this tutorial has a bit of this and a bit of that. While some used newspaper (as did I), others used toilet paper or paper towels. Some used Elmer's glue, but I stuck with my flour paste.
(or Salad in a Tin)
These little Salads in a Tin make a perfect gift for the budding gardener in your life. Just be sure to save a few strips for yourself.
