Yesterday the internet went abuzz with the rumor that J.J. Abrams, despite previous claims to the contrary, would be stepping up to direct Star Wars Episode VII, due out in 2015, ten years after the franchise's last film, 2005's Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. The LOST creator and Star Trek is one of the most successful and fanboy beloved director/producers working today. According to Deadline Hollywood Daily --

Star Trek director J.J. Abrams will be helming the next Star Wars movie. “It’s done deal with J.J.,” a source with knowledge of the situation told Deadline today. Argo director Ben Affleck was also up for the gig, the source says. ...Abrams was courted heavily by producer Kathleen Kennedy to take the job.

...Michael Arndt is writing the script for the first installment of the relaunch of George Lucas’ franchise by Disney.

What do you think warsis? (Warsees? Warseis? How do you spell the official name for Star Wars lovers?) A dream come true? I just hope he doesn't bring back Jar Jar Binks.
